Super Sunday Shirt Selection: Fan Expo 2013

This edition is rather special to Dylan and I. Inspired by Fan Expo 2013 happening this weekend in Toronto, we have chosen t-shirts based off of a couple of our favorite characters by actors we completely flip out for!!! Ron Perlman: He is the original Beast from the TV series Beauty and the Beast, Hellboy and most recently Clay in Sons of Anarchy. Not to mention cartoons, many a video game voices and countless movies! The unforgettable Hellboy.

Honestly. If you are a Walking Dead fanatic like we are, then your favorite character IS Daryl Dixon. You know its TRUE. Norman Reedus is one of the nicest, most genuine human beings on the planet. He is a brilliant actor and an incredible artist!

Hope you love our selections! Enjoy the forth and final day of Fan Expo 2013!

Feature: Yuki vs. Panda Comic

Way back when I decided to put the blog on Twitter one of our first friends was Yuki vs Panda. The creators sent me a link to a pretty fantastic trailer of the comic, check it HERE. Now I am not a huge anime or manga fan, but I fell in love the the art work and this brilliant story!
An epic story about a schoolgirl named Yuki that has mystical kung-fu powers and her nemesis Panda! Yuki vs. Panda was created by Nick Dunec and Graham Misiurak back in 2006. It was actually a one-off skit from a television show they co-created called Dim Sum (watch online). In 2011 Nick and Graham bounced the idea around of Yuki vs. Panda becoming a graphic novel. After breathing life into the characters and mapping out the story, which will be 12 volumes, They found British graphic artist A.L.Jones. As Nick puts it “We just fell in love with her art and it really complemented our writing style well,” I agree! The story is fun
and very entertaining with A.L.'s lovely artwork bringing it all together.

Nick Dunec is from Haliburton and met Graham Misiurak in Toronto. The two became friends and very creatives partners. Read the official press release HERE

Yuki vs. Panda is available on the website Yuki vs. Panda and as an e-book. You can also purchase vol.1 at Stadium Comics (Brampton), Game Shack (downtown Toronto) & Sunrise Records (Yonge & Bloor location only). As of Aug 14th Yuki vs. Panda is now available at Comixology.

As I have said, this is a fantastic comic with awesome artwork! The characters and story are well plotted. You will not be disappointed with Yuki vs. Panda.

Super Sunday Shirt Selection: Feat, Game of Thrones 04/08/13

I don't know about your household. But there has been steady GoT discussions in our home going back to 2010 when I started reading the book series (aka, Song of Ice and Fire).

Everyone has the House that speaks to them. A character/s we absolutely adore and others we can not WAIT to see get their comeuppance (you bastard Joffery!!!!) So with so much focus on all the shock and awe of season 3 and the news and rumors about season 4 of Game of Thrones, this is a my salute to Fandom love and the books/series that keeps us awake at night due to our overwhelming obsession!

Artist Feature: Citizen Nerd - Etsy

In my first Artist Feature, I established how I love artistic Nerdy/Geeky people and want to share their talent with Geekdom and beyond! This month my Artist Feature is a couple of lovely Ladies of the Etsy shop Citizen Nerd, I had the pleasure of connecting with them via Twitter.

I have fallen in love with Kate and Julie's energy and creative nerdiness!  They specialize in minimalist style paintings on canvas and scraping. Sherlock, Game of Thrones, Doctor Who and Lord of the Rings are the favourite themes. But they also do Pokemon, Firefly and my absolute favourite and beautifully done, Celtic Knots. Their artwork is whimsical, simplistic and will fit in with any of your other collections, such as Game of Thrones. Even if you are not a fan of these genres, Kate and Julie do special orders on canvas as well. Below are a few sample of Kate and Julie's artistry from the Citizen Nerd Etsy shop.
